Abstrak

Diabetes melitus (DM) is a chronic disease that occurs due to hyperglycemia, where chronic hyperglycemia can cause complication, one of them is diabetic foot ulcers. Prevention related to the management of diabetic foot can be manage with foot care. This research aimed to determine the behavior of foot care among patients with diabetes mellitus in Pekutatan Village. This research was a descriptive study. Respondents in this research were 20 people. This research used Diabetes Foot Care Knowledge Scale (DFKS) questionnaire, attitude related to foot care questionnaire and questions determining the knowledge and practices about foot care questionnaire. The majority of respondents had age ranged between 56-65 years old (55%), men and women respondents each had the same number (50%), majority of respondents had a senior high school level of education (85%) and mostly had occupation (70%). The majority of respondents experienced DM ? 5 years (60%). Based on the results of the research, 12 respondents (60%) had a sufficient level of knowledge. On the other hand, attitudes and practices related to foot care of respondents were in the good category (100%). The results of this research can be used as an input to local health workers to improve the education related to foot care among DM patients and motivate patients to take care of their feet to avoid the complications.
